ROYAL ENFIELD COARSE ANGLING CLUB 2 DAY INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL BY MARK O’DONOGHUE, SECRETARY ROYAL ENFIELD CAC.

Over the weekend of the 11/12th June, Royal Enfield Angling club hosted it’s annual 2 day international coarse fishing festival.  This year we welcome 48 anglers to the Enfield area, with over 20 visiting anglers from the United Kingdom welcomed to our shores.

The event was well sponsored thanks to Waterways Ireland and Meath County Council.  Waterways Ireland was represented by Enda Raleigh from Waterways Ireland.

The event was held on the Royal Canal at Longwood on Day 1, while for Day 2, the venue was Ferns Lock.  Fishing was good overall on both venues with some good bream showing up to 4lb 7ozs, tench, roach and perch.

The Overall event winner was Pat Bartley from Dublin with a winning weight of 20lb 12ozs over the two days, with an impressive day one bag of 14lb 14ozs of Bream helped him lead from day 1.

Pat took home the AI perpetual Cup, the Fred Moss Memorial Cup and almost €1000 in prize money.

2nd Overall was Joe Lawrence from the United Kingdom with total weight of 14lb 15ozs.

3rd was Neil Paterson from the United Kingdom with a total weight of 13lb 6ozs, narrowly being Sean Ward from Prosperous into 4th.  Sean had a total weight of 13lb 5ozs.

We wish to thank all our anglers who participated as well as sponsors, supporters and committee members for all their working during the event.
