Its full steam ahead on the Whitelake and some cracking trout were caught in recient competitions. Evan Farrelly was top junior angler on July 13th during the Leo o, Reilly Memorial Cup. On Owel and Ennell the Peter fishing is certainly up and down, but should settle in the coming days we hope. Anglers are reporting catching some huge perch, roach and rudd on the dry fly the last few nights. Also this week we received a photograph of a cracking brown trout weighing over 7lbs.Plus we have the contact details for Derrymore Springs Fishery near Killucan where you can hook –up with some lovely rainbow trout. PETER SEASON UP AND DOWN. The Peter season is up and running but the fish are slow to come on the feed as darkness falls on our bigger lakes. We are receiving reports of good trout coming from Ennell, by local anglers who spend many hours on the Lake. This summer the coarse fish are really taking a shine to our beautiful tied imitation Peters and Murroughs, and roach, Rudd, and perch are being boated late into the night on Owel and Ennell. All going well the Peter fishing will improve in the coming weeks. If you fancy a night on Owel boats for hire Jack Doolin 044-93-42085.On Ennell Lilliput boat hire 087-6492866.

OWEL BEAUTY FOR 8 YEARS OLD KILLIAN DEMPSEY. Well done to Killian Dempsey of Croghan Co. Offally who boated a fine trout of 2lbs on his first Angling Foray with dad Darren. The lads had being up in Anglers World here in Tesco Shopping Center and picked up a few colorful Tazmanian Devil Lures, which worked for Killian.

DERRYMORE SPRINGS FISHERY. Last week we featured some local anglers with lovely Rainbow trout caught on Derrymore Springs Fishery near Killucan. Its a fantastic fishery and I have fished it many times in the past few years. Ideal for seasoned anglers, and also a lovely spot to introduce young anglers to the wonderful sport of fishing. It’s very rare not to catch a fish on Derrymore Springs and I really can remember having a blank day on the Lake. If you fancy a few hours on Derrymore Springs Fishery here in the contact number 087-7537797.

RINN POINT IN A MESS.Ennell anglers are very upset with the on going problem of rubbish being left on Islands and along the shore line of Ennell. Some weeks back Dysart Island was more like a dump, and local anglers removed a lot of left over rubbish from the Island. Now Rinn Point is the “Hot Spot” for day and night drinking and fishing sessions. These individuals have no respect for our lakes and are certainly not members of any of our angling clubs.
