QUANTUM COVERS ALL THE OPTIONS

Yes for this weeks Tackle review we checked out some of the top of the range Zebco Quantum lures. It’s early days but these lures give you all the options here in Ireland for Game, Coarse and Sea fishing. I just can’t wait to let loose the Hot Toddy 4cm lure on our Trout Lakes, and Rivers, these little 3g lures come in various colours including the Baby Perch will be a hit with trout feeding hard on fry. The Gipsy Diver and little Jiffey are another option for early season trolling, or spinning with light gear. I gave the Gipsy Diver 10cm Perch color a run last week in deep water, and the perch hit it hard. I dropped the Gipsy down deep and worked it back, and the action from the lure really caught the perch off guard. I could feel the vibes right up my arm. Certainly a real “come and get me” call.

JANKY SUSPENDER & TROUT SQUAD. Another cracking lure is the 5cm Janky suspender, this will work a treat in shallow water, and the feather tail effect, adds a whole new look to the lure when worked fast in murky conditions. The Snuggler floating range I will lash out in the coming weeks, and see what our fish think of these colourful chaps. As for the Trout Squad they are just out of this world. I gave them a run last week just to check the action, and see how they worked on my Jerk Baits rods, magic movement and will be a big hit this coming summer. They come in a fantastic range of colours including the Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Perch, Salmon, and a very Spooky colour. Seen them on some of the stands at last weeks Ireland Angling 2012 stands, and they were catching the visitors eyes. An added bonus is that these lure come with two spare tails.

PIKER & JERKFACE. The 12cm piker will be an ideal lure for your Tackle Box, and I am looking forward to giving them a swim on Lough Ree. The Hot Brownie is a cracking colour, as is the Intruder. They are certainly worth looking at for the coming pike season. The Jerk face is ideal for surface fishing, and will work well on Rivers for pike, and will do the business on the sea front for Bass Anglers. I will give them a lash also in the coming weeks as the pike head to shallow water for spawning. Watch this space for some reel action shots.

EARLY DAYS. As I said it’s early days and Tomorrow Wednesday February 15th some of the Western Lakes and Rivers open for Trout. Here in the Midlands we will open on March 1st, and I will let the Quantum range of lures loose at out fantastic Lakes and Rivers.

PERCH PICS. I leave you with a few photographs I took last week while fishing with Barry Darby. We had some cracking perch, and one small Jack lashed at one of the Trout Squad as we worked it in shallow water. I have caught Perch all my life, and it’s a long time since I started my perch fishing on the Royal Canal. They are one of my favorite fish species, and I leave you with a photo taken some years back on the Royal Canal. Yes those were the days no pressure, or recession, that I was aware of. Just dig a few worms, and away you go.
