Well for this weeks Special feature we have some crew of Anglers, and they all caught fish. What a mixed bag we had in our boats on Lough Lene. Aidan Joyce and Dad Joe dropped down from Maynooth, along with Peter Watson of Howth and Danny O’Hara of Castleknock, who never fished before. Also Kirk Alexander from Orlando flew in for a few days. I guided Kirk and his son some years back, and it was great to see him back in Ireland. On the day we boated pike, perch, and trou,t both rainbow and brown trout. Old Joe caught the only 2 brown trout. He is some character and should have being a politican. He has a great way with words, and priceless company in a boat.
PIKE. We had a huge number of pike, and Aidan boated 13, with Danny having 10 and some nice trout. A lot of the pike were small Jacks, and they are really on the move this week. We had fish just 4-5 inches long, and J.J. produced a huge fish. It’s hard to believe that these small pike will eventually hit double figures. Kirk had a slow start to the day, but eventually got into the swing of things and started catching fish. Peter Watson G.P. latched onto a few lovely trout, and Joe in the nose of the boat was in fine form.
TROUT. We trolled small lures most the day, and the Vampire Rapala, and Abu Garcia done the business. Also the jointed Trout Rapala nailed quite a few fish. The fish were high up, and we trolled with very short lines. Hopefully in the coming weeks as the weather improves we will get plenty of surface action on our rods.
PHOTO GALLERY. I took a few pics of the lads on Lene, and I also hope to get some pics from Peter Watson, which we will include later this week on this special feature. Kirk is on his way back to Orlando today Monday June 20th , so by the time he hits home he can check our website.
