CONDOR FISH FINDER.

Recently I checked out the Condor 242 dc fish finder. It’s an incredible bit of kit, and more importantly not too expensive in these recession times. When checking out what’s new in the fish finder world I came across the Condor range. I was very impressed with all the Technical details on all models, but did they do what it said on the box. As with many anglers I carry a lot of gear when boat fishing, and the fact that the Condor 242 dc had all the advantages of a wide-angle fish finder, packed into a small housing, was just the ticket. I am really not into all the Teckno stuff, and I just wanted a simple finder that will give me depths, and put me over shoal fish.

THE TEST. I had planned a few days on Lene and Derravaragh, working lures for pike and perch, and also trying a bit of dead baiting for pike. Day one was on Derravaragh, and I was in deep water working some cracking lures for pike, over huge shoals of fish. At times I hit 35-40 ft of water and the Condor was jumping all over the shop with fish symbols, and I was catching no fish. After 2-3 hours it got the better of me, and I dropped down a few small Perch jigs, and sure enough straight into fish. Yes it was finding fish, and answered my question did it do what it said on the box. Now my confidence was up, and as I drifted across these shoal fish I got a great run on dead bait. Naturally the predator fish were hanging around, all this fish activity, and only for my new little Condor, I was fishing blind. On day 2 I ventured to Lene, and marked many large symbol fish covering water 10ft-20ft. I trolled through all this fish activity, but unfortunally they were not on the feed. That day I was fishing with Marty Smith of England, and where we marked fish, we seen some huge pike breaking the surface. Not to blank on that day, I took Marty out into deep water, and we located more Perch deep down, and enjoyed some fun jigging.
