This week we received some cracking photos of super pike from Blessington Lake, and Lough Gowna. Last Sunday Dublin Trout Angling Association hosted their Christmas pike competition. Gerry Dolan produced a Christmas cracker weighing 20lbs 2oz caught on smelt, it was hard going as reported from some competitors, and James Doyle caught the second pike of the day a fish 3lbs 5oz. Nice one Gerry, it will go into the net for December Catch of the Month. With a €75 Tackle voucher for Irelands Top Angling Centre, Anglers World in Navan.
GOWNA BEAUTY. On a recent trip to Gowna, Dublin angler Glenn Brennan boated a fine double figure pike on sardine, drifting under float. Glenn and his angling mates had another 3 pike one of 4lbs that took a full Mackerel, and another 6lb fish that took a shine to a Copper Spoon. The lads fish many waters across Ireland, and were impressed to see I.F.I. Officers out & about across the Eastern Region. However the lads got a shiver down their spine when they drifted into 2 inflatable boats one with 2 Anglers, and the other had 3, and not a lifejacket between them. It was choppy enough at times and the boats were struggling, when the winds picked up. What price do you put on your life, I ask you.
PHOTOS. My thanks to Fran Nugent and Glenn Brennan for some super photos, it’s a big plus when the pics are of such good quality. It’s nice to see the fish being treated like Supermodels, and the colours are magic.
